We got hold of this photo last month and it is only now that we managed to post it on the site. It was taken during the SM Foundation’s medical mission at SM City San Lazaro last May. With Doc Rorie Quijano-Siasoco are her daughter, Rebecca (leftmost) and youngest sister, Riza (rightmost), both of whom also volunteered during the medical mission. Dropping by to see them was our former YDT teacher, Miss Rodelia Tangco.
Mamang passed away last January 3 – no pain, no illness, just the way she wished her farewell to be – quietly, and without any premonition. We were even preparing for their 50th wedding anniversary this May 21…
We were having lunch when she just slumped on my daughter Rebecca’s side (they were sitting side-by-side), and when I held her, she was looking up the sky, as if looking up at somebody, without any hint of pain, and with very feeble pulse when i tried to feel for some vitals. Resuscitation at the hospital ER was done, but finally I had to make the staff stop, as Mamang would have wanted it to be. Ayaw niya ng turok, ayaw niya ng maraming tubes, ayaw niyang may mahihirapan pang ibang tao.
She died on the epiphany, was buried during the feast of the Nazarene, her 9th day was the first day of the Church’s ordinary times (theme: going back to the Lord) and her 40th day will be on February 11, the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. She really chose her grand exit, typical of her!
Our family would like to thank you for all the prayers and the mass offerings that you have made for our Mamang. Please continue praying for the repose of her soul.
We would like to express our heartfelt condolences to Rorie Quijano and the whole family on the passing of her mother, Mrs. Severina Quijano. We are calling on everyone to join us this Tuesday, January 5, in paying our last respect to Mrs. Quijano. The wake is at the Holy Trinity Memorial Chapels, Dr. A. Santos Avenue, Sucat, Parañaque. Please get in touch with Remy Tuazon for the details.
Todo na talaga ‘to.
Rorie Quijano-Siasoco’s eldest daughter, Rebecca, celebrated her 8th birthday last July 20, and her well-wishers included not only the young ones but the young once: former Lakan Dula High School teachers who took the occasion as an opportunity to visit their LDHS colleague, English teacher Mrs. Severina Quijano.
The peps are really going places. This time we are posting the pictures of Rorie Quijano’s trip to Korea where she was one of the resource persons in an international health conference held last November in Ulsan City.
