Haberday, Nitz

This picture of Nitz Mercado (with Zeny Cervantes) is almost two years old already. We were looking for a more recent picture of hers for this birthday post, but to no avail. That’s because Nitz has been absent from our activities for the longest time. Pero dahil kaarawan naman niya bukas, patatawarin na lang natin.  Maligayang kaarawan po.

Other peps – Angie Santos, Lito Parungo and June Lapira (isa pang hindi nagpaparamdam) – also celebrated their birthdays recently. Our haberdays also go to them.

Be merry, all of you.

Farmville addicts

What’s this thing about Farmville that makes many people, including some peps, addicted to it? If you haven’t heard of it, Farmville is a game featured in social networking services such as Facebook and Friendster.  As its name suggests, you go into farming and your reward could be a big farm like the one above, which, incidentally, is a product of Eric Macatangay’s laborious planting and harvesting.

And Eric is not doing it alone. He has recently converted Chie dela Peña and Nitz Mercado to become farmers themselves. Visit them on Facebook to see how their farms are doing.

Kaya pala nawawala si Nitz?

Larawang kupas

Slumbook, ghost stories, etc.

Expect the unexpected when the peps are gathered in one room. We mean the range of topics they choose to discuss is really amazing. The get-together last July 17 at Ruby Rosa Gaviola-Guevarra’s residence was no different, this time with all the attendees trying to upstage one another with their own experience with the supernatural. Was it the ambiance that night that led them to this topic?

Notes from Nitz

We just received the following update from our dear Nenita Mercado. This is for the benefit of those who were not able to attend our January 5 meeting and missed Nitz’s many kwentos about her and her family. She may be talking here of the many changes in her life but for us she remains the same old Nitz: so sweet and still oh so kalog.

Rest assured, Nitz, that we are equally proud to have you as classmate – and friend.

Nitz and kidsHi peps! It’s been 30 years kaya s’yempre marami nang nagbago. After graduating from PLM I was hired by Aboitiz Shipping Company, where I worked for 21 years (1983-2004). It became William Gothong and Aboitiz after the merger. I opted for the company’s early retirement program in 2004 to become a full-time mom.

I got married in 1992 to Jaime Joson, who is fondly called Jimmy by his friends and family. He used to work for a brokerage company but decided in 2004 to run his own, eventually going into trucking as additional core business.

Ruby, Nitz and Gil return to the fold

When it rains, it really pours. Three more peps have been duly accounted for and even managed to attend the class meeting this afternoon. They are Ruby Rosa Gaviola (now Guevarra, take note), Nenita Mercado and Gil Buan.

Ruby’s husband, Noel, happens to be a cousin of Mario’s and that means getting hold of Kuya Mar’s contact info is just a matter of time. You can read Ruby’s message in our Recent Comments section.

We will write more about them and today’s successful meeting, of course, as soon as we receive updates and pics from all those who attended.

Salamat sa tatlong nagbalik-loob at uli-uli huwag na huwag na kayong mawawala!
