Tweet, tweet

You might have noticed that we now have  “tweets” on our blog. (If not, it’s on the right sidebar of our website.)  This is meant for short messages we want to immediately share with the peps. You need a Twitter account to  tweet back to these messages.

We’re back online

As you can see we are back from a two-day slumber. We apologize to those who had written us asking what was happening. The site just underwent a slight maintenance and it was only the peps whom we informed about it. We forgot for a while that there are a number out there who also visit the site regularly. It is indeed nice to know that our search for our dear classmates has also given us the chance not only to reunite with other friends from high school but also meet new ones. Salamat po.

When we went to Lakan Dula High School last July 10, we received a sollicitation letter from Mrs. Florinda V. Sarabuno, head of the school’s social studies department, for the building of a mini-museum that focuses on Tondo.

Below is Mrs. Sarabuno’s letter to our batch, addressed to our classmate Lito Parungo. The letter, which can also be downloaded here, has the endorsement of LDHS’s current principal Mrs. Rosalinda C. Nepomuceno. The full text:

March 16 meeting

A group of IV-1 peps yesterday held a lunch meeting to finalize the plans for our July reunion. Those who gathered at Keith dela Cruz’s cozy dig in Antipolo were George Hizon, Ruby Gaviola, Gil Buan, Remy Tuazon and Jo Monte de Ramos.

A decision not to elect a set of officers was made so as to make the celebration of our 30th anniversary a real collective effort.

The reunion date is set for July 12-13, 2008. Jo will be inquiring about a resort in Calamba, Laguna, after the Holy Week. An ocular inspection of the place will be done by a team before it is finally approved by April.

In looking for and deciding on the suitability of the venue, it is very important that we know how many persons are attending. May we request you therefore to relay to Remy (via text or email) how many guests you are bringing in tow?

Meanwhile, Gil has finally got in touch with our dear classmate Merle Salvador-Belmi. Merle, the one responsible for clinching the venue for our 1988 reunion in Batangas, was able to talk with the peps during yesterday’s meeting and informed everyone that she and her family are now based in Baguio City. We will write more about Merle soon.

As for the other classmates, we really have to work double time to find them. Eric Macatangay has just confirmed he will be in Manila this week and reiterated his promise to help in this undertaking.

Lastly, those present at the meeting also agreed to attend the LDHS grand reunion this April in Quezon City. Just coordinate with them if you want to go there as a group.

Watch for more announcements and please don’t hesitate to forward your questions and suggestions. All hands on deck, peps!

Reunion announcements

Ruby Gaviola, our designated class treasurer, would like to inform all of us that our collective bank account has been opened. She and Keith dela Cruz, the account’s holders, have already deposited the required minimum balance. Please get in touch with them for the bank details if you plan to remit your voluntary contribution to our reunion fund.

Ruby also said she, Keith and Eric Macatangay are organizing a tour to find those peps we haven’t located yet. Eric is arriving soon for a short vacation and promised to take the lead in finding our missing classmates and teachers. Those interested to join them are most welcome.

Remy Tuazon has some free days next month and would like to call a meeting to elect the reunion’s overall coordinator and committee members and discuss the agenda points sent by Lito Parungo a while back. Expect a message from Remy soon.
