Last Thursday, a group of peps was traveling back from the wake of George Hizon’s mother when Larry Ramos informed them via a text message that another classmate, Salvador Ignacio, had passed away. Disbelief greeted the shocking news, for no one in the class was aware of any health issue Buddy was having. In fact, we had hardly heard from him since our class reunion in 1988 in Batangas. All we knew was that he had been working in Bahrain for years and would spend his vacation in the Philippines every now and then.
Then came the news of his sudden death.
Larry has been in touch with Buddy’s daughter Celestine (in photo above), who said that lymphoma was the cause of his father’s death. She also shared that Buddy’s remains might be brought home next week and that the wake would be in Calamba, Laguna. She ended her message with the hope of seeing all his dad’s classmates.
Our condolences to Buddy’s family, especially to wife Pilar Pabustan. We will include you all in our prayers.
Rest in peace, Buddy, and we’re sure you fought the good fight.
