Top schools in the Philippines for 2011

We regularly come across surveys that rank the “best” schools in the world, and here comes another one which, the writer expects, will generate heated discussions as usual. We are reprinting it for what it’s worth and our advice to you is just to take these survey results with a grain of salt.

The top schools in the Philippines for 2011

Four years ago, our list of the top schools in the Philippines for 2007 (according to CHED) caused quite a stir. It’s proven a particularly sensitive topic, especially to alumni who feel obligated to defend the honor of their alma mater. How have the rankings changed in the last four years?

While we’d love to feature updated rankings from CHED, the government agency hasn’t released any new list in the past few years. So for this edition of our top schools list, we’re relying on figures published by QS Top Universities.

The website, maintained by Quacquarelli Symonds Limited, regularly ranks universities worldwide based on a specific set of criteria, claiming to help prospective undergraduate and graduate students choose the right school for their needs.

Only 13 universities from the Philippines made the site’s 2011 Asian University Rankings.
