Aside from calling her Ma’am Beth, you may now address our former journalism teacher as Mrs. President, by virtue of her being elected as president of LDHS Batch 1970. During their last month’s grand reunion homecoming, which was also attended by a number of US-based alumni, the class was unanimous in choosing Mrs. Bustamante-Hua to lead the pack.
If you are a member of the LDHS Alumni Network, you must have read a writeup on the various activities they held to mark their 40th anniversary, the theme of which was focused on “the art of giving back” to their beloved alma mater.
Two of their reunion activities we personally find commendable were the scholarship program they launched for deserving LDHS graduates and the essay-writing contests they sponsored in honor of Mrs. Elma Pineda-Baking, the former adviser of the school’s campus newspaper, The Barangay, and Mrs. Gregoria Balagtas, the former head of the Pilipino department.
We would like to congratulate Ma’am Beth (or Mrs. President) and the whole batch on this milestone.
