Ma’am Au

Au Torrijos

Ma’am Aurora Torrijos, our math teacher in first year, met up with a group of LDHS alumni  last August 9 at Shakey’s in SM Manila. Traveling all the way from Cavite, her home base now, Ma’am was accompanied by daughter Roan, son Darwin, and her lovely granddaughter.

Those who also attended this meeting were classmate Lito Parungo (who was with friend Marvin Ocaya), Ma’am Beth Bustamante and Luis Cuevas of Batch ’82.

We remember Mrs. Torrijos as one of our favorite teachers. She retired in 2006 and for sure her former students, including us, still appreciate her very effective way of teaching mathematics.

Ma’am was supposed to attend our July 2008 reunion in Laguna, but had to beg off the last minute because of an urgent matter she had to attend to. She promised not to miss the grand reunion Batch 1978 is hatching this December.

Thank you sa pagpost ng picture ni Mrs. Torrijos. Siya pa rin ang dating si Mrs. Torrijos na may happy smile sa kanyang mga labi. Naaalala ko pa noong high school ako, di ko favorite ang math pero i learned to love the subject because of her. Hindi kasi siya nakakatakot magturo. At mabait siya sa lahat ng mga students niya. Every time na nakakasalubong ko siya sa school corridor noon at nagbibigay-galang ako sa kanya, she would always give me a happy and sincere smile. Bigla ko tuloy siya na-miss.

The Site Team: Kaya huwag kang mawawala sa reunion ng batch, Amy. As we said, she will be attending the event.

during our high school years, average lang ako pagdating sa math. pero pag mapapatingin kami kay ma’am au pag nagtuturo na siya, always with a smile kahit pa maingay sa classroom. that time malapit yung room namin sa hagdan kung saan dumaranan ang mga students. she was always a good coach noon, kahit nahihirapan kami sa mga itinuturo nya kasi mas gamay ko nun social studies. katabi ko lagi si jesus mallari na mahusay sa math. kaya madalas, pag social studies na ang subject, ako tagapasa ng sagot; pag sa math, si jesus naman. parang hindi nga nagbago yung image ni ma’am au sa picture nya eh. looking forward to seeing her in our december reunion.

It’s nice to see Ma’am Torrijos and Ma’am Bustamante in your website. They were also my favorite teachers when I was still in LDHS. Without them I would not be what I am now. Please post their cellphone numbers so I can contact them. Regards to all.

The Site Team: Check your email, Luisito, for their cellphone numbers.

    Dear Ma’am Au,
Who would forget you? And that peculiar smile, mahirap kalimutan. Nice to see you again kahit sa picture man lang. Very happy indeed that you are doing very well with your grandchildren. Pareho po tayo, may 2 na rin akong apo kahit bata pa ako. Maraming salamat po sa mga natutuhan ko sa inyo. Never had a chance to say thanks to you, kahit man lang dito maipaabot ko po sa inyo ang gratitude ko.

The Site Team: Check your email, Larry. We sent Ma’am’s mobile number.
