The peps and Ma’am Fe: Reunited after more than 20 years
On July 10 a welcome lunch was held for Ma’am Fe Calope-Lomantas and daughter Michelle who arrived from Bohol the day before. Members of the “welcome committee” were Zeny Cervantes, Remy Tuazon (with husband Danny Martin), Jo Monte de Ramos, Lito Parungo, Keith dela Cruz and birthday boy George Hizon. Venue was Dampa sa Libis, a nice restaurant that offers a wide array of fresh seafood.

Afterwards the group (minus Keith) drove all the way to Tondo to visit the campus of our beloved alma mater, actually our very first visit since our graduation in 1978. Our journalism teacher, Mrs. Yoly Perez, was there to welcome all of us. We made a courtesy call to the school’s principal, Mrs. Nepomuceno, before being toured around by Ma’am Yoly.
LDHS has changed a lot. It has a much bigger campus. It even has a separate Science Building and a gymnasium. Ma’am Yoly told us the school has become a choice high school for the best elementary graduates in the area. Ma’am was also very proud when she said that our student journalists have been consistently maintaining their place in the top 5 for years.
Tidbit: While touring the campus, we bumped into Bayani Santos (IV-1, Batch 1980), who is now teaching electronics at LDHS.

The afternoon was capped by a merienda at Chowking in Pritil where we met up with Ma’am Beth Bustamante-Hua, also a former journalism teacher of ours who is now teaching at the nearby Nolasco High School.
